So some of you seem kinda pissed off that I told a lady the car needed a transmisison when all it really needed was a rear axle..Well she assumed it was the transmission to begin with, I thought so as well that it was a transmisison, since I could put the car in all the gears, and the speedometer climbed but the car wouldn't move.

She listed the car for a grand, I told her 800 and I would tow it off, she said yes and I took the car.

A week later I called her and told her all it was was an axle, she thanked me, and I offered her more money, she declined it and said I deserved the money.

I understand why some of you got upset, but no need to jump down my throat about it.

so all the car's power just spun the axle that didn't connect to a wheel... open differential? i'm confused as to how that worked

Audi uses a Torsion diff, for the quattro. One axle goes and the whole system shuts down basically.
